Acupuncture Treatments

Acupuncture is an intervention that facilitates shifts in the body with each session. We begin with understanding the root imbalances in the mind-body at the time of treatment and also look to understanding how these have formed over time due to constitution, illness, or lifestyle. The goal is to help each person shift into a healthier, more functional state of being, providing just enough treatment to help patients hold that new pattern on their own.

Chinese Herbal Medicine Treatments

Chinese herbal medicine is based on a written tradition extending back 2,000 years. It is also currently an integral part of modern healthcare in hospitals and clinics in China and around the world today, and on-going research and clinical studies inform our practice. Each of us performs a careful intake, including tongue and pulse diagnosis, to formulate an individualized combination of medicinal plants. Individualized prescriptions are based on the root imbalance identified in the Chinese medicine system and are also targeted to treat biomedical conditions and symptoms.

Patients take herbal prescriptions in convenient powdered or capsule forms. We have an extensive compounding pharmacy on-site to create custom formulas tailored to each patient. Our herbs and formulas are all tested for contaminants, heavy metals and pesticides.

Over 20 Years
of Experience

Each of us has been a licensed practitioner for over 20 years and has completed multiple advanced trainings with master acupuncturists and herbalists. We practice dynamic styles that create treatments based on patient feedback and our diagnostic methods. Our treatments include manual, hands-on techniques that treat the fascia, muscles, cranial rhythms, and the energetic (Qi) system.

Jeffrey uses a unique pulse diagnostic method that is based on a refined system of pulse reading that is often able to pinpoint symptoms and signs through palpation only. This is the first step in a session and takes place before asking patients about their current concerns and past medical history. Jeffrey’s teacher, Chang Wei-Yen (Jimmy Chang), developed this technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine classical texts, decades of experience, and tens of thousands of patients. Jeffrey uses this style of pulse diagnosis as the foundation of his practice when diagnosing and prescribing herbal prescriptions. Treatments include diagnostic findings with craniosacral techniques that determine which further methods need to be applied. These may include osteopathic hands-on manipulation, acupuncture, direct moxa, teishin (treatment of acu-points without needles), clinical kinesiology and others.
Shelley’s patients appreciate both the alleviation of symptoms and the sense of greater well-being that her treatments provide. She uses meridian-channel palpation and energetic (Qigong) assessment to determine what is out of alignment in the physical, emotional and subtle bodies. Treatments in the clinic are primarily based on acupuncture and individualized herbal medicine, but may also include abdominal massage, targeted nutritional plans, cupping, and Qi-healing therapy. Patients receive specific instructions for self-care that are designed to meet their goals for physical and mental well-being. She treats and advises patients who want to address insomnia, depression, anxiety, compulsive behavior, chronic and acute pain, sports injuries, gynecological disorders, male and female infertility, post-partum recovery, skin disorders, acne, poor digestion, weight loss, and other conditions.
Chloe brings together several styles of Acupuncture with diagnostic tools from both Osteopathy and East Asian medicine. Hands-on techniques are a big component of her work and are utilized in a way that is often described as “listening”. She seeks to meet each person where they are, discerning what is needed in each session, as well as considering the deeper aspects of what is influencing the presenting complaint.  She integrates cranial work, and other body-work modalities, with acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, herbal prescriptions and lifestyle/dietary advice. These are not all used in each session but are chosen specifically as the need arises. People seek her out for deep body-mind healing, where physical complaints are addressed within the context of the whole person.
